About Botley

Botley was once described as ‘the most delightful village in the world, it hasMarket Hall Clock Tower everything in a village I love and none of the things that I hate’ by Botley’s most famous resident, William Cobbett, a 18th century radical journalist. Today, Botley still retains this charm being described as ‘refreshingly unspoiled’ by visitors. Located on the upper River Hamble, Botley has been described as a quaint and picturesque market town. Steeped in history and surrounded by the beautiful Hamble Valley countryside, this charming town offers unique shopping experiences, a variety of hostelries and restaurants, places of interest and events, all with a warm welcome from Botley residents.

Botley is an ideal base for exploring the countryside, with many local walks including self guided trails starting in Botley. Manor Farm and Country Park lies to the south of the town offering 400 acres of woodland edging the river Hamble and a traditional working farm.

For those visitors who like to shop, Botley offers a unique shopping experience with many specialist shops suiting a wide range of needs as well as free parking within the village.

Although there are no longer 14 pubs in Botley as there once was in the 18th century, the town has welcoming hostelries and restaurants which all offer mouth-watering menus which are sure to whet your appetite.
